Jacy Wall has a BA in Constructed Textiles and an MA in Multi-Disciplinary Printmaking. Her work in both media is about textiles in the broadest sense, exploring many qualities of woven, printed and stitched textiles, enjoying a seam and simple stripes as much as rich embroidery as a source of imagery to play with.
In recent years she has been drawn to the improvisation, traditions, and ingenuity of mending. Her use of mending imagery has explored a range of approaches, often simply an emotional response to the history implicit in visible damage, along with the kinds of beauty arrived at in the methods of mending it. For details of new work and upcoming shows see News page.
I will be showing work at the Portmanteau Gallery, North Street, Bridport, Dorset, September 8 – 16 as part of Bridport Open Studios. More information soon in News Section.
